Night Roam on Jean Lake

For anyone who is into paddling canoe, some of the best trips are at night. I absolutely loved paddling after dark especially when there is a bright moon shining on the water.

This portrait is of a scene that I saw while paddling on Lower Jean Lake near Wabush in Labrador. It was a beautiful night with a big silver/blue moon shining, my favorite type of night for a cruise on the lake.

There are times when I see wildlife and even fish at the surface of the lake during a night run, there is always something unusual to see at night. Always be prepared for the unusual to happen because when you least expect it, it will happen.

This portrait is of the iron ore mine that I worked in for a lot of years, I felt that I needed to create this portrait because it isn’t something that is commonly seen due to the location, a person would have to be in a boat or canoe to view this scene, it is not where I would expect anyone to be at that time of night.

That is another thing about finding good subject matter, always be willing to venture out at night if you want to capture a different perspective of your surroundings. You will definitely be pleased with what you will discover.

Remember that nature is not on a clock and is available twenty-four / seven. So, get out there, it’s your world, take advantage of it and Live It Up!
