Labrador Inuksuk

Inuksuit are placed throughout the Arctic and northern regions of Canada and Alaska. The Inuksuk is used for navigation, a marker for fishing places, camps, hunting grounds, places of veneratio.

Inuksuk structures also have spiritual purposes, and are objects of great respect, often marking the spiritual landscape of the Inummariit, these are the Inuit who know how to survive on the land living in their traditional way.

It is also used to signify that it is the land used by the Inuit people. It is one of the most amazing and mystical things to come across in the north. I simply would not have completed my experiences in the north without doing a portrait of this northern landmark.

Also, the Northern Lights are very synonymous with the north and to view an Inuksuk with the Northern Lights in the background is an absolute pleasure and special event to observe. This portrait will allow those who are not as fortunate to have been able to view this occurrence for themselves, to have the pleasure of enjoying it also.
