Artist at Work (self portrait)

My theme for this book is primarily centered around reflections in nature, however, I have included this portrait of a landscape that I created.

The twist that I will be using is that I am painting a portrait of myself doing a landscape portrait, to accomplish this I had to paint the portrait of the landscape twice. Frist, to represent the landscape scene including my self portrait. Second, I had to do the landscape on a canvas within the portrait itself. I felt it would be a nice addition to this book on “Nature – reflections of an Artist”.

In my previous book “Nature thru an Artist’s Eyes” there is a portrait and narration of a little park called Gorge Park, some of which I would like to include in this narration because this scene is of a special rock in the river about a quarter mile upstream from the park, the rock is called “Indian Head Rock”.

Excerpt from “Nature thru an Artist’s Eyes” While I sat near the waters edge and watch as the ripples fade away like lost memories on a quiet Summer afternoon, my thoughts are often with the Beothuk people whom had to survive in nature along this great river. It’s a nice thought to think of these people enjoying life where such beautiful memories were cherished as they traveled this area along the Exploits River.

If you get a chance to visit Gorge Park in Grand Falls-Windsor please take a short walk up the hiking trail, and take a moment to think of the “Lost Memories” of these beautiful people in this special place.
