A Labrador Morning

Early one morning while snowshoeing northwest towards Jean Lake near the town of Wabush in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

 On this awe-inspiring morning it was very crisp and cool, the temperature had dropped down to -25°C during the night, causing the surrounding forest to don a beautiful white cloak of frost with a soft blue sheen cascading over the entire landscape as the sun began to slowly peep up over the horizon. The frigid air had filled with sparkling ice crystals as Mother Nature began sprinkling her glitter for all to enjoy, viewing this phenomenon was nothing shy of an amazing experience!

As I stood on the trail totally enthralled with this view before me, I noticed a motion to my right and there stood the most magnificent creature that you could imagine, she was simply staring in my direction, her eyes seemed to penetrate my eyes as though she were trying to see into my very soul.

As if we shared a spiritual bond, this glorious creature had also been admiring this amazing morning, only to be interrupted by my presence. She did not seem to be too disturbed, only curious at what was happening in front of her. She eventually moved a little farther off the trail and hesitated for a few more minutes while studying me deeply, then she faded off into the brush along the river side. It was another fantastic vision for me to store in the halls of my memories and smile as I revisit it on occasion. I created this portrait so that you also may appreciate this magnificent wolf in her environment.
