Playful Buddies

Over the years I have spent countless hours on the Colville River in Labrador, it is one of the best fishing rivers in Labrador West. The scenery is fantastic and the wildlife abundant. It is always an exciting river to travel, with lots of little buddies always playing nearby.

As an artist and an avid photographer this is paradise, I absolutely love camping along this river. On one of my trips up this river in 1982, I even carved a fish out of an old dead tree on the banks at one of my favorite fishing and camping spots.

While on one trip I had spent the morning just meandering along with the current and decided that I should stop for a boil-up. Shortly after setting up my kitchen and as I was cooking a nice meal of trout, I could hear some little squeaks coming from near-by.

To my great enjoyment several otters were just playing to their little hearts content and to mine. There is nothing I would prefer to see more then a family of little forest dwellers carrying on in front of me while I am enjoying lassy buns over a delicious cup of tea. “Ya can’t beat it!” as the old fellers would say.
