This portrait is about the Spirit of Labrador or for that matter any place in the far North. I choose this Lone Wolf singing his song to the Spirits because I have always associated the wolf with the north and the Northern Lights has cemented that association.
Having traveled long distances over frozen lakes and barren snow blanketed countryside, I have seen these beautiful creatures in difficult times and I have seen them in times of plenty. Wolves are energetic and strong animals surviving under the most arduous conditions possible, they are deserving of our admiration and respect.
Often I have heard a wolf singing his song to the spirits, I have wondered whether he was howling because of loneliness but then I realize that, no, he isn’t lonely – he is in his element and where he longs to be. Exactly has I was at that moment. Enjoy these wonderful creatures, they are special!
