Simply Relaxing

I have always enjoyed watching wildlife, it is always very interesting. In nature there are few more entertaining then the Blue Jay, they always have some kind of commotion going on.

Some of us humans should learn from these beautiful birds, they are very considerate of each other, I know that they may have little tiffs with each other at times but as a rule treat each other very well.

I have watched as the male would bring food to his prospective mate to try and win over her favors. He would always be very energetic while building her a nest and then when she would start helping to build it, he would know he has won her over. It was very comical, watching him fly to a branch and jump up and down while calling out for all to hear. It was an unusual song that sounded an awful lot like “I have her, I have her, I have her”, at least that was what it sounded like.

Then when the eggs had been laid, both parents would take turns sitting on the eggs to incubate them, however, the female would spend the bulk of the time sitting on them, and being the consummate partner, the male will help constantly with feeding her and then with feeding the young when they had hatched, a good family man indeed.

Astonishingly this female absolutely loved watching her own reflection on the waters surface while the male watched. I created this portrait to show them enjoying quiet time together, these two are like any normal couple, simply relaxing.
