Call of the Wild

The call of the wild can be describe in numerous ways, in my case it changes with the seasons.

During Fall and Winter, I could describe it as the haunting lonely call of the wolves, there is nothing that attracts my attention and captures my spirit like the song that they sing while calling the spirits. It is difficult to resist the urge to climb to the top of a hill and join the choir.

During Fall and Spring, it is the honking of the geese as they travel the skies on their journey south and again during the spring as they are returning. The honking of the geese transports me into a time that pre-existed our current civilization, to a time when to survive in nature you had to be at one with nature.

During the Summer it is the mournful call of the Loon late in the evening as the sun is setting or during the day the lunacy of the warbling laugh of the loon that carries so far as they fly across the sky to the mate back at the nest with the young. Without a doubt it is this call that will penetrate my very soul and create a craving in my very being to get out there and live, yes, I come totally alive with their cries and calls.

But I will return to the honking of the geese that will drive me to a feeling of adventure like no other, it is this sound that unites me as one with nature. So don’t let life pass you by without experiencing these glorious calls from the wild.
