Flying High with the Eagle

Most people at some time or another have thought of what it would be like to fly high above the ground like an eagle. It may have been a fleeting thought but it has fascinated humankind for thousands of years.

According to Greek mythology Icarus and his father Daedalus were possibly the first men to fly when Daedalus created two sets of wings for them to escape from a prison tower.

It is said that the wings actually worked and they escaped but Icarus didn’t listen to his father’s warnings about not flying too high and get too close to the sun or the wax on his wings could melt and the wings fall apart. Icarus did fly too high and the wax did melt and Icarus fell into the sea and drowned.

Will, so much for man’s first attempt but we still dreamed on and then along came the Wright Brothers and here we are flying!

However, some still dream of flying with the birds and like the birds. it would indeed be marvelous to see what it would be like to actually realize this dream.

So I have created this portrait “Flying High with the Eagle” to help satisfy that dream. But don’t go too close to the Sun! Remember what happened to Icarus!
