Playing Around

A day on the river is never boring, there is always wildlife in abundance. In the bays and angles there are ducks and geese. I have also seen a few beaver and one otter, but when I stopped to have a few casts to see what would attack my fly as I let it drift with the current around a boulder at the edge of a pool.

I turned to look at an old abandoned cabin, to my surprise there was a nice but unexpected scene. A family of Black bears had come out of the woods to see what they could find, but hadn’t noticed me yet.

I stopped casting to watch what would unfold, while not attracting too much attention to myself. I wasn’t too anxious to see Mama’s reaction if she spotted me.

I didn’t think that she would appreciate my presence with the little ones so close.

As luck should have it they didn’t notice me and eventually moved on back into the forest to forage elsewhere.

Very fortunate for me as I wasn’t in the mood for a swim at the time.
